I have a Parallax 7345 converter/charger system. I think that it is a single stage unit. My batteries seem to bubble out to fast. I have been told I need to change my charger unit to a 3 stage unit. This would keep the batteries from bubbling out so fast. I have checked my batteries at least monthly and filled to proper level with distilled water. I have taken reading with my multi-meter of batteries only and when charging. The voltage readings seem to be correct. Hydrometer readings were good also (1.3 each cell). Is there something else going on with my system? Should I replace my charger with a 3 stage unit (Progressive Dynamics Inteli-Power RV Converter/Changer with built-in Charge Wizard)?

Parallax had an issue with too much ac voltage being produced in the dc circuit. Use a volt meter set on ac volts and check for ac output on the dc side of the converter. If you are seeing more than 3 volts contact Parallax for remedy. This will cause the batteries to boil.

I am on shore power with aux battery switch OFF. Reading on batteries 12.46 VDC. I turn aux battery switch ON. This connects Parallax charger to batteries. Reading on batteries: 13.65 VDC; 29 VAC. These are the readings from my multi-meter. So I guess I need to contact Parallax about my problem. I have 800-443-4859, is these the correct number to call? Thanks.

FYI: Called Parallax Tech person. He told me to turn OFF the main breaker. Pull the two Polarity Fuses. Turn ON the main breaker. Take a DC volt reading between the blue wire lug and the negative wire lug. My readings were 13.82 VDC (that is within spec of unit of 14 VDC no load max or 13.2 VDC full load max). My reading was 29.4 VAC. He told me that I should only see a max of .5 VAC across the output of the charger unit. I am to take my RV to my local RV dealer/serivce center and have them verify the voltage readings, call tech person with readings and they will okay the warrenty replacement of the unit.
