Chapter 8: RVing with Faith
Yukon Get There From Here

There are certain parts of Canada where the central abiding feature is the grand wildness of it all. Driving through the Yukon, you really get the feeling that you are “out there in it”, disconnected from much of what we know as “civilized society.” For all that isolation, it is a gorgeous, inviting place.

Ever since I caught some of the Winter Olympics I ve been waiting to read about the Todds travel through Canada. We got our place out here to get away from it all, but sounds like the Yukon is the real deal!

Glad to know you liked my country on your way to Alaska - Have been there myself - How about the Atlantic side ? Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island - all just North of Maine -
Hope you enjoyed Alaska as much as I did my self!

My husband and I were fortunate enough in 1998 to go to Alaska. We absolutely loved it! Our desire is, now that he is retired, and I am employed in the school ssytem, to take a summer and go to Alaska with our fifth wheel. Before, we flew out and back, which was breathtaking also. So, can hardly wait to plan a road trip. I am looking forward to hearing about your journey in God s beautiful country as you go along. I will make notes for my future trip. Thanks for sharing and God bless you as you travel.

I thought it said you all were retired! Covering 400-500+ miles a day doesn t sound like being retired. Great story though!

I also would like to travel to and/or through Canada but how do you get around the Passport requirement?

My husband and I want to someday travel to Alaska. I have done a lot of research and found that from Washington state to Fairbanks is about 1500 miles. I have heard from friends that have been there, that it is wide open territory. My concern is how often is there a place to get gasoline.

No problem on Fuel. However, I refilled anytime I ran across a fuel station and was below 1/2 full. I did have the 36 gal tank and an extra 5 gal in the can. Get a Milepost. Then, you will know what is ahead. Smaller tank = more in cans.

If you ever want to come back home, the best way to get around the passport issue is to get one. :-)
