I have a 2006 Georgie Boy motorhome on a Ford chassis. The cigarette lighter on the dashboard is completely dead. Before the lighter went dead, I was using a 12volt tire air pump to add pressure to the tires. That worked fine, but when I tried to charge my GPS it had stopped working. I checked the fuse and the fuse is still good. What could have caused this? Can I repair it myself? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

The first thing to do is check with a 12v test light or dc volt meter to see if power is at the recepticle. The center post is 12v positive and the inside wall is 12v ground. Make sure you also check the wires to the recepticle. This will show if we have a problem with the recepticle or a wiring problem. There is a chance that an in-line fuse is also protecting the power source.

Hi Steve, thanks for your advice. I did find another fuse box to the cigarette lighter put in by Georgie Boy. There was no diagram for it so it was hard to find. But after checking all the fuses I found the one that was burned out. Problem solved. Thanks.
