We have a new 2011 Winnebago Journey 40' which we picked up on Monday. We are on a camping trip hooked up to 30 AMP service. We are not using any Air or drawing a large amount of voltage. I keep hearing a clicking sound like a relay swich keeping opening. I have found a relay switch and the sound in the drivers side rear compartment where the chassis batteries are located. Is this a problem or is is normal. It seems to be intermittent.

It is possibly the charge solenoid for the chassis batteries when connected to shore power. It should not be clicking continuously. It may click a couple of times but should stop.

My travel trailer is rated up to 1980 lb total weight, and my car hitch to 2000 lb. But the car manual limits towing weight to 1500 lb. I can easily hold the trailer weight below 1500 lb. Am I legal pulling that trailer at 1500 lb or less? Thanks!

To be clear, You say the trailer has a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 1980#
You have a class I 2000# hitch
The towing capacity of your vehicle is 1500#
You are correct you should not tow more than 1500# with the vehicle.

Thanks, Steve, for your answer re the 1500 lb. My concern, though, is whether it s legal for a 1500 lb-rated car to have a 1980 lb max weight trailer attached, even if trailer is loaded to less than 1500 lb. Hopefully no silly regulation?

It is what you are actually towing and not what it is rated.

I have a new 2011 Winnabago Journey 40U, and I have had 3 incidents with overheating while driving. Each time the temp sudenly leaps to red, the coolent Temp over heat indicator comes on, the a check engine light and finally a red light which says stop. I pulled off the road shut down the engine a few minutes and then when I restarted and pushed the idle up the temp immediatly drops down to normal again. The Tech at Lazy Days have looked at it but found no issue. One my way home from lazy days the same thing happened again. Mind you this is brand new and I have only driven the unit maybe 150 miles. Any thoughts? this is a cummings 360 without the new uric acid system.

The emmissions is an exhaust treatment so it should not make the engine run hot . The diesel exhaust fluid (def) is sprayed in the system to clean the exhaust. If you have not experienced a reduction in power from the Cummins engine it has not overheated. If the engine senses on overheat condition it will reduce power, if it does not cool down it will shut the engine off. I think you are experiencing a problem with the temperature sensor, gauge or wiring. Any service department would need to duplicate the problem to be able to properly diagnose the cause. Sounds like another trip to the service department. If you return to Lazydays feel free to see me after you check in for your appointment and I will see if I can help.

Love FT RVing. Parked on owned pad in SoCal in a Teton. Want a jump-about smaller travel trailer of high quality and light enough to tow with 7000 tow capacity, and a 114 wheel base SUV. Good idea? Cautions? Best type or brand?

We need to replace the wallpaper border inside our RV. The same paper can still be found but you have to buy a huge amount. Where is the best place to find new border wallpaper?

Contact the RV manufacturer or a dealer that handles the product to see if it is sold by the foot. If that is not an option you will have to purchase the roll.

It is not always required to disconnect from shore power when running the generator. You should run (exercise) the generator for two hours a month with a load. If the transfer switch, that decides between shore or generator power, is generator dominant it does not need to be disconnected. If the transfer switch is shore power dominant the shore cord will need to be disconnected to put a load on the generator.

I need to know more information about your Dodge. Laramie is an interior package. Do you have a 1500, 2500 or 3500? Standard cab, quad cab? Short bed or long bed?
