Hello. I own a Onan model number: 4KYFA26100J generator. It will start, run, then stop for no reason. I recently changed the fuel pump thinking that was the prolem. We started the generator before we went into the grocery store. It ran the whole time while we were in the grocery store for approximately 1 hour. We stopped the generator to travel, then tried to re-start the generator a few hours later. It will start but then stop on its own for no apparent reason. Fuel is moving through the fuel line. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated!

Does it show a fault code on the start/stop switch? Low oil level or faulty low oil level switch are just a couple of the items that can cause the problem. Unplug remote switch from generator to confirm it is a generator problem.

Steve, Thanks for your suggestions. Excuse my ignorance, but how do do you unplug the remote switch from generator.

On the side of your 4KY Onan generator, outside the box, you will see a 6 wire connector. This goes to the remote switch. Just unplug the connector and start from the switch located on the generator. Do not leave the door off of this generator when running. Running without the door in place will cause overheating and possible damage to the generator.
