Camping with the Koalas

Daryl May's travel writing draws from his visits to forty-five U.S. states, nine Canadian provinces, and sixty countries. Whether as a notable hiker or a lowly hitchhiker - or in cars, boats, bulldozers, planes and RVs - his stories are generally wistful and self-deprecating as he faces adversity and extricates himself without losing his sense of humor.

Please explain how a ute can tow a fifth-wheel trailer:

A fifth-wheeler is still a “fifth-wheeler” but it’s towed by a “ute” (from sports-utility vehicle). . . .

Very informative and enjoyable. Just the kind of information I find useful. Love the photos, too.

I am currently in Australia on vacation. Returning on the 19th Feb. Loved the article and can associate with so much of what he said. We are not caravanning down here, just staying with friends. Great place to visit. All costs are high though.

All fifth wheel terms are the same in both languages - fifth wheel, fifth wheel coupling, fifth wheel trailer, fifth-wheeler. A ute is a particularly Australian word for what we know as a pick-up truck. Sorry for any confusion.
