New Uses for a Multi-Purpose Problem-Solver: WD-40

If you’re like most RVers, you probably have a can of WD-40® in your toolbox. This familiar water-displacing spray is widely used for preventing rust and corrosion, loosening rusty screws and lubricating squeaky moving parts. But did you know that it also has a wide variety of household uses?

Just so long as you remember it is a short term lubricant. Get it loose and use the appropriate lube to keep it that way.

I am told it makes guitar strings last longer as well.

It is also great to wipe down stainless steel appliances...nothing beats it...I was skeptical at first but is a believer forever. I will never spend money on stainless steel cleaners again!

I have found out that it is not a good idea to use WD-40 on rubber. Squirt some on a balloon and watch it. It is also good for cleaning hands. Use silicone on rubber.

Among uses for WD-40, with the red straw, it also works well for disabling hornets or bees from a distance.

WD-40 is not what you want to use on the slide gaskets. Short term it will attract dirt and scratch the side of the slideroom when extending or retracting. Long term it will damage the rubber as stated. Use silicone or protectant 303. It is not only the lubrication but the protection from sunlight hardening the gasket. Also keep the walls clean and waxed and the floor on the bottom of the room clean.
